Went fishing Saturday morning from 7 to 11:30 and Sun afrternoon from 5 to 8 and the fishing was good. I was fishing from the Government wash side this time. Saturday I was using sardines and anchovies it didn't seem to matter which one I used they both worked. Ended up with 12 total which is pretty good for me. Nothing big. Sunday I used left over sardines from Saturday, anchovies, and mackeral. Only used mackeral because store was out of sardines. All worked equally well. I caught 13 fish 4 cats and 9 striper. The cats were bigger than usual and fat. These cats lookes like they were about to burst biggest was maybe 4lbs. Saturday morning when I went to wash my hands in the lake after cutting some bait the water felt warm. Almost warmer the outside air temp I don't carry a thermometer, but the water is getting warmer. Also tonight just after sunset I did see some shad busting the surface. Three griebes were following them. DOn't know if they were being chased by striper or spawning. I can't wait for the boils tp come. No pics sorry Lost my phone. All the fish were average anyway. There were lots of boats out there Sat morning.

Got out of town this weekend to Sand Hollow. The bass are going nuts water temps 62-68 degrees, the fish were very active and were hitting really everything we threw. The bluegill had not come up yet. Didn't catch anything over 3 lbs but caught a bunch of fish overall.

Went to boulder beach last weekend using anchovies got tugs all day long and the occassional hit but they would only hit once. Im guessing it was carp. Going back out tommorow prepared better. I will post back with an update.

I used to have that problem with small stripers- Try downsizing your hook. A size #3 to size #1 octopus style hook helped my hook-up ratio.

If you want to try something fantastic, go get yourself some of the new circle hooks on the market. These hooks REALLY work. (keep the hooks small still - a 1 lb striper can strip the bait off a 3/0 circle hook with no problem).

It's hard to train yourself to not set the hook, but the reward is worth the learning curve.
