.Ok, I reached the salmon river up above the pesimeri hatchery on monday the 12th. It was pretty windy and blustery most of the day and evening but I was just glad to be back again for a week to do what I love to do and that is chase metal heads to all ends with my fly rod. I fished around monday evening just checking out all of my old haunts. Hooked 4 or 5 and landed my first one of the season, good old cookie cutter saw tooth hatchery female( first pic). that was enough for the evening so went back to camp and settled in for a cold an anxios night. tuesday I awoke and a friend of mine from bozeman got in shortly after and we were of to the spots we know were the fish are running and holding. Not any thing to hot fish here and there maybe 7 or so landed between the two of us just the same as the night before just cookie cutters ( WERE THE HELL ARE THE BIG B RUNS) sat down and rested for a bit and studied the water decided to go down to a spot were we had fished in years past but not recently to see if any were stirring. First cast and steve WHAM hooks a decent fish. Not huge but about 28in we fish along a little more and we pick up a few more 28in fish. Just as were about to leave I slam this big hog(2nd pic). those are the only one took pics of that day. Wednsday we fished hard down at a hole we know has fish running through it we hooked alot and landed about half. I manged to get another decent b run fish out of there (3rd pic) by this time weather was improving fast and that usually means fishing declines but not always. Thursday we went to section 17 on the salmon river and knew were some fish were on there redds. Steve at this point is sick of catching cookie cutters and wants a big dog. We poke around a bit and spot a real nice fish wade out to it and second cast Steves reel screams of line and blazing speeds. 15-20 min later hes holding this guy (3rd pic). I decided to take the female that was in the redd with the male and i eventually hookup and land this nice female.( 4th pic) I droped my camera in the river shortly after so this is all the pics i got. All in all we hooked about 60 fish and landed about 30 maybe 35 pretty good percentages for fly guys I think. Any wat camers dried out and to my great surprise worked again. Hope you enjoy and cant wait until next year. One more pic just for fun

you are correct those are my own version of egg suckers. And as for the weight of my rod its a 9wt. anything less than a seven and your asking for a snapped rod. I fished for a few years with a seven and i was scared sometimes with the bigger fish.
