BAINBRIDGE, GEORGIA - National Guard FLW College Fishing is headed to Lake Seminole May 1 for the second of four stops in the Southeast Division series. Forty collegiate teams will be competing for a top award of $10,000 to be split evenly between the school and bass fishing club.
"Lake Seminole will offer any kind of fishing you can ask for," said FLW tour pro Rusty Trancygier of Hahira, Ga., who grew up near the shores of Lake Seminole. "The fish are mostly going to be post-spawn, but if the kids can find the staging areas on the sandbars and look for hydrilla patches they should find both spawn and post spawn fish.
"Drains and ditches should also prove to be productive areas; I would flip spinnerbaits all day long. There are a lot of good, big fish to be caught; it should be a fun tournament for the college kids."
Anglers will take off and weigh-in at the Bainbridge Earle Mae Boat Basin located at 100 Boat Basin Circle in Bainbridge, Ga. Take off is at 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 1 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
