Just got back from Causey. First time using our scanoe/outboard combo. Fishing was slow most of the day as we moved around trying to find the fish. Water had about 15ft visibility near the dam, but as we got further up some of the arms it became more murky. Finally near the end of the day we got into the fish about halfway between the dam and the scout camp. Caught 8 rainbows and 1 tiger trout all within about 30 minutes. Spoons and spinners with some color were the ticket. Rainbows were all planters about 12-14 inches, the Tiger was about 14 inches as well. The fish were all caught near the shore. Didn't see many rising, and we talked to only one other group that had any success, though it was slow for them too.
As it warms up I want to be able to troll a little deeper. I definitely don't want a downrigger on our scanoe. What are some cheap and low impact alternatives? One person recommended "dipsy divers" or some such thing. Any recommendations?
dipsey divers work very good, especialy up there

I'll second the dipsy. You can also try leaded line.

I also have a Scanoe. The best trick for a down rigger is to buy the down rigger ball and tie a rope on it. Works just as well as a real down rigger. The only difference is you have to pull up the rope by hand.
I fish Causey regularly, if you need any tips PM me.
