Well I called just about everyone I knew to see if they wanted to pull a night trip with me at Carters. I ended up going alone. Started at 7pm and ended at 3:30am. I started out throwning a shakeyhead at some transition banks in the back of my favorite creek. Caught some dinks doing that, but was happy that I got some biting right away. Noticed some smoke over the trees, so I went to check it out. Looked like it was coming from the parking lot, so when I rounded the corner I see a ski boat in the water completely on fire !! Don't know what happened, but did find out everyone was ok. So off I went. Hit another creek and wanted to hit some post spawn areas ( points, standing timber ect.) . Was throwing a buzzbait and it didn't take long before I caught my first good one of the night. 4lb spot ( thought it was a small striper, that's how crazy the hit was !!) . Went around a point and threw at a lay down. Proceeded to catch 4 more keepers from the same tree and missed two more there that looked to be very good fish. So now I have a limit of 14lbs or so ( anchored by 2 4lbers). Decided to paralel a rocky flat bank. Hooked a nice 3+lber there. So before dark I was sitting on 15lbs ! I would take that anyday ( all spots!) ! Once night came I hit some big flat main lake points with super spooks. Hooked up right away with a fun 10lb striper, then in the 35 minutes I boated a decent hybrid and hod litterally 22 blow ups !!! No idea why they wouldn't take it, but the blow ups alone are outstanding !!! Moved to another point and hooked the biggest spot of my life !! Well over 6lbs ( easily ! ) , fought it perfectly but it made one last hard run under the boat and pulled off. Caught three more striper on the night with my biggest a shade under 20. All on topwater. Great night to be out !!
