Got to the water at 7ish and put in the boat and headed right over to Hole #1. Wouldn't you know it there was already a boat fishing there. but it was Yellburt and his buddy, so we had a good time tag teaming the crappie.
I was teaching "the system" to Brandon and he caught on right away and continued to catch the most today.
emoThumbsup
We were in the rollers with the wind at gale force almost and the trolling motor spent a lot of time beating dry air.
The decks were soaked with the wave wash and we were constantly trying to stay in a calmish water so we could control the boat. The boat has only been out 4 times, so B had to fight it and try to get used to operating under high power and torque. Kinda funny to watch as he tried to keep his balance on left-right corrections.
Started on BG bleeding shad with a tail light and later found that color was incidental.
16 heads were best, but I got some nice ones on 32 as well.
emoAngler
No pics as we were in training mode, but B landed a big perch and we kept some 13s for YB and his partner Danny.
I mean rough!! it was offset by the fact that we were catching fish constantly with only a few slow times in between the fun.
B is an excellent fisherman and really fell in love with shooting style and didn't cast all day.
He has a lot to learn, but he is very capable of being one of the good ones at this method.
No pics as I said before, but we had a grand time and I hope he invites me back soon as my fishing partner's boat is getting a new transom!
Thanks for reading as we almost called off the day because of the wind, but the cave lake is a good place for me to fish and we were partially protected from the worst of the whitecaps.
BTW watched a guy fishing a big weight with a brushhog and lizards tearing up some fine bass from the bank.
He must have caught about twenty really nice fish.
Also our count was 49 crappie with a perch, a couple of gills, a few LM, and spots, and white bass. emoApplause emoDance
Did you know it was windy yesterday? emoEek
