Well my wife gave me the kitchen pass for tomorrow. I will be going to strawberry and was just hoping to find the best place to go and best lure to use. I hope we don't freeze to death but my brother said we are hardcore.... we will see. PM me if you want.

I sort of answered you on the other Strawberry thread.

Not all the lake is ice free. Find a nice bay that is and you should catch fish. Since boat aren't out, I look for more remote places, but the spot I had action and saw some caught last night was just an open bay about 1/2 mile or less walk off the main HWY.

We got bites on work/marshmallow/slipsinker rigs. I got a hard follow as I was reeling one in to shore. Next time I'll try sinking a casting bubble and dragging a big fly behind. Last year we used dark tube jigs and caught a few. Never got around to trying my rainbow trout Rapala.

went yesterday, black or smoke tube jig- 2 and 1/2 inches long. Used a 1/16th jig head. Pretty good fishing, move along the shore line. Dont stay in the same spot and fish, just like fishing a river keep moving. They are in the shallows, so long deep casts arent necessary. Should be completely ice free by the weekend. All fish were slot 18 to 21 inchs. Soldier creek side has lots of ice free fishing. Mudd creek was very slow but I think I was fishing behind someone.

I was there on Monday and tried four different spots before I caught 1 cutt and 1 bow I threw everything in my box and nothing was working for me, I even tried some wooly buggers, ended up catching them on rainbow powerbait, the cutt hit it hard as I was reeling in my line to check my bait, I got my fish in that little narrow bay about 3 or 4 miles before renegade, just dumb luck or me no advice, good luck

Was up there on Friday the 7th. Fishing was really slow-only caught 4 cutts, my buddy caught 7 or 8 rainbow planters. Tried everything but the kitchen sink, a 1/16 kastmaster was the only thing that worked for me though. 3 cutts inside the slot and 1 was 24 inches and 6lbs, I kept her.
