Hit Strawberry this morning and had some very nice weather for about an hour then got pounded with snow and ice until I had enough. Only fished for about 2 hrs. total in the lake then went and hit a river for the rest of my limit. Fished 1 pole with powerbait on the bottom and casted various lures with the other pole. Couldn't quite muster up my limit at the Berry and ended up with 3 respectable Bows. All of the fish were on the PB too. I think I'm gonna add a secret weapon to my arsenal on Friday with a buddy..........A floatable fishing device.......

How much ice was left? Think you can get a boat in this week? Thanks

The whole Soldier Creek arm is probably 50/50 for ice and open water. The road to the dam is supposedly "closed" for the road construction but I've been driving it anyway. So yes you can get a boat in at both Aspen Creek and Soldier Creek. I'm planning on trying this theory at Aspen Creek probably on Friday. I have a black Dodge say what's up if you see us!
P.S. I think these may be the only launches that aren't iced in. Not sure about Strawberry Marina.

Yea I hear ya on that one. A buddy and I had this happen to us at Flaming Gorge about a month ago. Anchored up and crashed for the night and woke up the next morning surrounded and pretty much stuck in a BIG sheet of ice that went across the entire canyon we were in.
That side of the Berry should be pretty much ice free by Friday I would imagine. Shouldn't be that big of an issue. A buddy said there were guys putting in little john boats at Hawes Pt. today. Game on!

He has a huge motor on his boat so after a couple hrs. of the sun shining on it we were able to put it in reverse and break it up enough to get to the open water. Kind of scary but not too bad!
