ASHBURN, Va. - In recognition of the popularity of swimming and other water-related recreational activities in the United States, and to promote safer water practices, May 2010 has been proclaimed National Water Safety Month by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the Independent Pool & Spa Service Association, the National Recreation and Park Association, and the World Waterpark Association.

In cooperation with National Water Safety Month, everyone can take part in The World's Largest Swim Lesson on June 3. This event is designed to build awareness and generate local and national attention about the importance of teaching kids to swim. The event will take place at aquatic facilities around the globe on Thursday, June 3, at 10 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
