Time to get out fishin' again !!! I put my boat out on Utah Lake last Saturday and it only took it 30 seconds to start up. YEA !!!

Anyway, just drove around the lake a bit to make sure everything was working. I live in Saratoga Springs, so I get to use the marina at the north west corner of Utah Lake.

Now, the questions for you guys:

1. Where do the fish in Utah Lake live, and how do I catch them?

2. Is Deer Creek any good for fishing? What kind of fish are there? Where do they bite, and what do they bite on?

3. Strawberry sounds like Ice-Off is underway and should be ready by the weekend. I'll be at a father-son's campout this weekend, but can go next week. How long does the fishing stay good after ice-off? Are they all in the shallows, or are some to be found trolling the top in other parts of the lake?

See ya all later, and HAPPY FISHING !!

Fishing: A jerk at one end of the line waiting for a jerk at the other end.

Old Fishermen never die, they just smell that way..

One of the best panfish spots on Utah Lake is the Saratoga Springs private marina.

1 In tiny fish condos. You dont, they are happy living in their tiny fish condos.

2 No. Carp Just below their nose. Anything that tastes good.

3 Until ice-on. Fish are where you find them. Much like Deer, Elk, Bunny Rabbits and Grasshoppers, they dont all do the same thing at the same time.

[laugh]That's a pretty tall order. It would take a book to answer all of your questions but I would be happy to run my head about my fishing knowledge for anyone that is willing to take me along. Learning the seasonal habits and movements of different species, since they all have very specific locations they frequent, is half of the equation. The other 50% of the game is learning which kinds of lures, jigs, and baits work best and how to use them to target individual species. Utah Lake, Deer Creek, and Strawberry can all be great if you know what to do. Some days are tougher than others but I still manage to catch at least a few when they have lock jaw. There are many times throughout the year I have 100 to 300 fish days with white bass, crappie, perch, or trout (catching and releasing mostly) and I am willing to teach somebody that wants to learn if they can just get me on the water. This is the perfect time for you to inquire about UL because the white bass fishing is already good and it's fixing to get insane. Everything else is turning on too and the crappie, bluegill, and catfish will be going nuts very soon. Largemouth should be starting to show up with more frequency and the fishing for them will be good in a month or so. I'm generally free on weekends so let me know if you want to meet up.

I go catfishing every single night at provo boat harbor. go straight in 2nd to last boat ramp on the north side of the boat harbor. jig around the reeds there and you catch bluegill crappie and largemouths. if you want white bass i like going to the dump ditch in lindon. its just to the north of lindon boat harbor you park on the south side of the dump and walk over the train tracks. camelot in springville is good when the white bass run starts. just get off the flying j exit and go right and right again down a dirt road to the end. if you wanna catch big cats go to where the spanish fork river comes into the lake. its hard to keep them on cuz there is a lot of fallen trees but when you land one you will be proud of yourself. If you wanna fish deer creek the only place I know there that i have even caught a fish is charleston bridge where the provo goes into deer creek. i went today and caught a 20 inch bow and i was only there for 10 minutes. At strawberry you can fish the ladders with green zekes sierra gold and a size 16 treble hook. You should try scofield. take a minnow trap and catch some red sided shiners, or just go buy em at sportsmens. toss it out by the dam or if you can get away with it drop it straight down at then end of the dock at madsen bay and you will catch big tiger trout. sometimes you have to jig it a lil.
