Fished Willard yesterday afternoon for a few hrs. Fishing started off slow but then picked up for about an hr. I Ended up with 2 wipers and 2 crappie. Caught all four fish in an hr then it went dead. Left around 545 pm.
Went back to willard today to find the shad in the shallows and making a lot of noise in the water. They were splashing and thrashing all around. Man are the big found a dead one washed up on the shore that went about 13" long and saw some even bigger. Didnt catch any fish the only bites i got were from mesquitos.

Both wipers were 20 inches and weighed in at 3.8lbs and 3.11 lbs, the crappie were 9" and 11". All fish were caught on jigs and on my ultralight rod with 4lb test.
On another note Fishing was a little combat style for a little while before I decided to leave because I was getting to irritated and didn't want to have to thump someone. I literally had my spot taken when I went to grab one of the wipers from the water, I turn around and have to dodge a rod being launched right over my shoulder. I know violence doesn't solve things but I think a message needs to be sent cuz I am sick of having my spot taken over and having to be the better person and move away. Oh well the people who took my spot didn't catch anything but when I moved I caught another wiper and the people decided to pack up and leave...

[cool][#0000ff]You must learn to be more patient, my son. Just breathe through your nose...count to ten...and then kick the stuffins outta those dimbulbs. Most of them rely on "us" not wanting to start anything. But I guarantee that if you stand up for yourself you will get the reputation that you are not someone to crowd out. Those guys learn to spot the wimps and those they can intimidate.[/#0000ff]

I went there also just for a minute. I went for 30min off the ramp to get on to the boat docks. Did not get a nibble. Had one notch. So realed it in thinking there was a fish. But then figured out it was someone else line. Thinking there was a lure i pulled all the line in. 5Minutes later still going. Then boom a thing of fish line! But at least we caught some fish at Mantua. I pulled in some nice ones. I pulled in a 23" 1-2 pounds. 18" 1pound. Esitmate. When i went to hold them. They went bye bye. But glad to know someone is catching fish at wilard!

Mantua is always fun and the gills are a blast to catch. I have been doing pretty good on willard i hope it stays that for awhile

[#500000]I was there Monday from noon til 2pm......I'm the old guy sitting in the corner on the white bucket with the BFT sticker.....Stop by and say hello.....I caught 3 crappie and snagged a giant shad.[/#500000]
[#500000]The DNR guy came by after I hauled the shad in and interviewed me about the fishing at Willard........It seems, they want to know if you prefer less fish and bigger fish or more quantity type fish.......Naturally, I told him both.......I wish they would put in some artificial structure......Maybe weber basin will not allow it? didnt catch a thing but yesterday i did get a couple crappie and saw some guy catch a couple nice size smallies (12-15 inch range).
