I admit, with the weather this year, floating is iffy, but I have manage to get out a few times

This last trip, however, was one I will never forget.

We met Pokymon and some friends Saturday morning. They got there the night before. In that time, Mike jr. lost his phone and expensive sunglasses in the lake. Then Mike sr. tries to help on shore leaning way deep in the water forgetting his phone was in his chest pocket.....still waiting the outcome there.

We are unloading the truck and stabilizing the Trailer. I hear a $&#@ from the other side of the trailer. I walk around to see hubby with his brand new, never been used, 5 hp motor in hand with the control lever dangling from some wires. It tipped over hard....lesson learned to lay on handle side[cool]

Then out in the water, I go to switch from a Type III to my Depth Charge which is spooled on the original English Battenkill LA. It slips out of my hand and hits my standing platform that is still under my seat. But then it BOUNCED! and went over the frame, through the gap between seat and SPLASH!!!!!! Well that fast sinking line worked.....it sank like a brick.

The rest of the overnighter went off pretty well although a little slow.

Sometimes after days like that, I wonder why I even tried it. But looks like you caught some fish and prevailed.

And actually, the cell phones were a good thing! What? Yes, that's right. Your compadres lost two of the absolute worst things to ever infest humanity. If I could rid the earth of one thing, it would not be cancer. It would not be disease. It would not be famine. It wouldn't even be fish-killers.

It would be, first WIND. And second, CELL PHONES!!! I'm actually considering a "cell phone sur-charge" for every cell phone that's brought onto my boat. And an extra charge every time it rings, or a call is made, or a text is sent. My boat seems more like a fu***** office than a fishing boat.

Congrats on getting rid of two!!! A blessing in disguise.

Sucks about the motor and the spool though. Sometimes you just gotta donate to the fish gods. And hey, at least you get the reels for the pro price, right?

Bummer! That is a trip that you won't forget in a while.

But those are some very healthy fish. Some of the fattest I have seen in a long time.

The weather hasn't been very cooperative, but I have gotten out a couple of times. Only for a few hours at a time, and mostly for planters at a small reservoir that isn't too far to go.

Frankly I get some really strange looks and long stares with the motor on the back of the Fat Cat!

Wow colorful! If nothing else the fish probably had their mouths open in shock as it went by and --yep, instant hookup. [laugh] [sly]

Thanks for the information. Some combinations just seem to have the extra bling that saves the day..

That is an interesting set of colors. Almost as wild as the "Bulldog" that Don of Sport Fishing on the Fly ties. It uses burnt orange maraboo tail, Gold chenile body, and two hackle feathers - one orange griz, and one olive grizzly.
