Thankyou friends for ideas on my boat, My crazy husband thinks he will keep me in the water longer. It's hard with the two kids so we will try. He really works hard on his hobby's but when it comes to honey due list..... Of couse he won't do them. [cool]

Is it motor mouth or is it motor mount. LOL He fix up today. Here's the pictures.[cool] But he won't let me take a picture of him.

It is looking good. Now you have to do a trial run, and let us know how it works for you.

Mamatrout says thankyou for the help with the designs.[cool]
Now I just got to get the motor and battery. Cabelas will have a 30 motor guide on sale saturday morning, but alas I have to work.[:/] I showed mt son (he is 9) the motor mount and he said "wheres mine?". Told him to grow a little and get a new boat and then we will talk.[cool]

I am glad that you are having fun with it. Wait until you get it out on the water. You will get some pretty amazed looks and comments!!

It is actually a blast just to play with -- I am more inclined to kick or go further because I know that I can come back against the wind, or if it is a lazy day. And it is quicker if I am limited on time.

I did put an on/off switch up front with me, and I really like the convenience of not having to turn and shut off the motor if I happen to catch a fish when I am motating across the lake.

The shutoff switch does sound interesting and will have to play with the idea and designs to see what I can come up with. I need to get it ready for next month. Bekki wants to go to Lake Powell.[laugh] It is going to be a blast.

OMG Cindy you have changed everything! With all the V tubes out there and the fact they have been around for YEARS!!!!! then you came up with this idea!

DMV is going to get real use to seeing these.

My only concern, as small as a tube is, if it should spring a leak, you more than likely are going to loose everything, so PLEASE be careful.

This is coming from someone still bitter about the new gas motor & reel[mad][laugh][laugh]

In your state does motorizing your tube change the registration requirements?

Good point on the springing a leak. Since my mount is attached I think the motor would stay with a one sided tube. ( I can't imagine both sides going flat). But the battery will need to be tied or attached to a tube d ring. Certainly everything would get a soaking including me. But I always have a vest on and I grew up swimming - my father was a commercial fisherman.

Pretty much everything else except my fly rod is in the pockets.

Anything with a motor has to be registered.

The bad thing is, the battery is going to want to go down, and it will make life ruff.
I had a leak in a power float...thank Gawd I was close to shore...it was underwater.

It might not ever happen, but something to consider.

Will that motor mount stay there if one side does go flat?

Heay, you invented this, just making you cross the "i"s and dot the "t"s lol

Yeah, the battery is the heaviest and will make it harder to get to shore, but I don't think that it can pull it down if only one side leaks. In a worst case scenario I would cut the battery loose and kiss it goodbye. OR I would abandon all of it, if I thought it was a hypothermia situation. It would get to the shore on its own. Just probably not where I would want it to be.

A power float if I remember correctly had only one chamber of inflation. The Fish Cat has the seats and two side chambers. It would be a real pain, but I don't think it would all go. Still it is a good idea to add a strap to the battery.

On mine the motor mount is solidly attached to the tube since I used the seat straps in the front and a bunge at the motor end. The other design (TD's) calls for straps from the front tubes to the d-rings with a bunge. I think it would probably stay in place too.

I am considering changing my design and attaching the pvc arms to a battery box. I'm trying to decide if it would just be more trouble and bulkier in transport, or easier as I am thinking I could make it to fit both the Renegade and the Fish Cat. It would completely replace the mounts I am using now.

[cool][#0000ff]Just a suggestion. I think you need to bring the motor mount closer to the actual front of the tube. Two reasons. 1. center of gravity. 2. length of control arm...speed, direction, etc. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Looks like about 6" or so too long.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, if it works on the water that is all that counts.[/#0000ff]
