Got to the Riverpark about 0700 to do a little bank fishing. Started off a little slow and picked up quick. I had noticed a bottle bobbing up and down just in casting reach so I through at it to try to pull it in. About the 3rd cast I was able to snag it with my c rig but it was weighted down and I broke it off. I decided to move on. No water flowing when I first arrived, once it picked up so did the bite. Threw a Bodonkadonk a few times and reallized no topwater bite, then switched to my old faithful Roboworm. Ended up catching 4 and missing several, biggest may have scared 3lbs, but nothing to brag about. There was a gentleman fishing on the bank next to me asking what I was catching them on, so I decided to give him a couple. It worked out well for him because he outfished me with my own bait. I think he caught 6 while I was there, but he was throwing a lot deeper, and catching the current. I was lucky enough to finally meet Richard Simms at the ramp(very nice gentleman). He pushed off from the ramp and started to motor off I heard something get caught in his prop. He pulled his motor and shook his head, and he said "net". What I thought was a rougue jug hung on bottom, was a fishing net. The story gets worse...as he trims up his motor it pulls the net out of the water, I saw some fish start flopping in the water...and there it was a sturgeon. I said thats not good. It looked like he was finally able to get the fish out of the net, and he appeared to call someone(im assuming TWRA). He motored off with some friends or clients and I continued to fish a while longer. I had a disgusted feeling after seeing the sturgeon in the net. All in all, it was a pleasant morning. All fish were caught on a Roboworm green weenie 6in straight worm texas rigged. The best thing out of it was to finally able to shake hands with Richard. Fish nets are bad!!!! If it bothered me that bad, I can only imagine how Mr. Simms felt about it getting hung in his prop.
