Have any of you or someone you know ever caught any other species besides Carp & Cats on the Bear River...from Tremonten down to the Bear River Bird Refuge??? If so what species and how long ago?

Thanks!

The Dam would have made for one fantastic fishery indeed! Crappie huh? Would you say these species you guys have listed are far and few or decent amounts...at least decent enough to spend the time targeting them?

not exactly below Tremonton, but below cutler dam just above Tremonton, i have caught Crappie, trout, walleye, mud cats, channel cats, carp, and the past two years quite a few small mouths (must be another case of the bucket biologists at work.) i think i read somewhere that "without a picture, it's just another fish story" i swear though- it's all true.
However, I am going to have to say that I doubt any of these fish except the cats & carp occur in numbers enough that it would be worth targeting them. used to be the walleye, but not any more.

Ill tell you this if you spend the time learning that river. It is the most under estimated fishery in Utah..
Pros No pressure
cons Access is limited, Dirty, Shallow spots.

i have caught bass, walleye, blue gill cats and carp over the past few seasons out of the bear river waters .
I spend quite a bit of time on it between bear river city and corrine and those are the species i have caught. I haven't tried targeting much other than the cats and carp.
With the right boat ([Wink]) the entire river from the refuge up to where it goes under highway 30 is passible year round low flow or high flow, but like mentioned there are some muddy loggy nasty spots. flat bottom jet or surface drive boats required in the heat of the summer when everybody is irrigating though.
