Anyone have a mehtod to find the tiny leak in waders?. Just nothiced it last week when one of my pant legs was wet after a day fishing. (No, it wasn't an inside job). No obvious holes so it could be along the seam,

Goretex waders can be turned inside out and spayed with alcohol/water mix. Pinholes will turn black. Use your favorite wader sealer on the holes.

What Browntrout said is a great way to find a leak. But as an alternative you can flip your waders inside out run a hose or pour water down the leg and see were the water is squirting out. Most likely if there breathable waders with neoprene socks the sock has a pin hole leak.

Once you have found the leak Aquaseal is a great way to seal it up. Also they have iron on patchs that work well.

Also how old are your waders ? Older wader say 3 or 4 years or more are susceptible to condensation the top layer of dwr treatment breaks down causing "wet out" and your breathable waders are no longer breathable.

If this is the case you can get a dwr treatment called Revive X, Revive X is made for breathable products
and will releieve the condensation buildup in the wader.
Ive done this to my 5 year old cabelas waders and they
breathe as if they were righ out of the box [cool][cool][cool]

Sin, the breathing also depends on how often you clean your breathables. The breathing holes can get clogged with dirt and sweat.

A flashlight ran along the material in the general area of the leak will help you find it as well. I have found several over the years with the flashlight.

Very true you make a good point. I guess it also depends on the frequency of how much you use them.

Just out of curiosity how do you clean your waders ? I usually just spray them down with a hose but Ive also tried rinsing them in the bath tub ( GF gets all upset cause her tub smells like fish and rubber [blush] )

But what a good way to clean them to get all that stink off of them ?

I use snowy laundry soap and through them in the washer on a gentle cycle and cold or warm water. Then hang them up wrong side out by the feet. On warm days (if we ever get one of those) it only takes an hour or so to dry completely and that is the feet, the rest dries really fast.
Now boot foot are a little different. Still use the snowy, but a bucket and out on the lawn or driveway.
