I need a new rod. I want it to be a two piece and around 8 or 9 feet in length. I want it to be pretty versatile so i can fish spinning for pike/musky or I can let it sit on the bottom for cats and carp. I currently have a fenwick hmg for trout, a st croix for steelies, a gander mt pole for bass, and I have been using an old ugly stick for big fish. But the problem with the ugly stick is, one its older than I am, two it has a very short cork handle and its really hard to pump a fish with it. So I need a new big fish pole. I got about 200 bucks saved up for it. So hopefully someone has some insight!

I'd love to help but my average rod costs about 1/10th of what you're planning to spend. I'm just now getting into higher quality gear. I spent $80 on a penn reel and I think my most expensive rod was $40. I'm sure someone else will chime in though.

so to leave you room for a reel you can realy blow a wad on, check out the Rino line of rods.
I have one that I use for walleye, salmon, trout, carp, cats, pike and bass.
best part is it is not all that expencive.

I use the Legend Tournament Musky line by St. Croix. I love the one I have, called "the jerk" but it is a one-piece. All my rods are one-piece though due to personal preference.
A bit cheaper of an option would be the St. Croix Premier Musky... they come in all lengths and 2-pieces as well. Both are great rods that will get the job done for you.
Also look into the Shimano Compre line... those are quality rods as well at a reasonable price.
