You have probably read about the Payette River flooding and it filled up Cascade quick. It was a different lake than when I was there the weekend before. I fished off the shore at Crown Point for a few hours on Saturday afternoon and didn't even get a bite. I talked to several people and only one guy in a boat had caught a fish (a bass). I went back out yesterday and drove around the bottom of the lake and a third of the way up the other side. I didn't see one boat in the water in all that way and the campgrounds were basically empty - it was kind of erie. The thunder clouds starting rolling in so I bailed. The flow of the Payette is apparently decreasing but it is still a dirty brown mess. Kodiak, the reservoir may calm down in the next few days but I wouldn't bet on it - it was stirred up pretty good. You may want to call Tackle Toms in Cascade for an update. I hear the trout fishing at Horsethief is good so that is an option to consider. Attached is a photo of the spillway out of the reservoir taken yesterday.

Wow, doesn't sound good. I was wondering about the flooding and its effect on the lake. Thank you so much for the update. Might have to wait for a couple of weeks. When and if we get up there, I will post a report for sure. Thanks again for thinking of me. Mike

As of right now, the lake is almost half a foot above normal full. We have 4,000cfs going through the spillway, the other 2,000cfs is through the powerhouse.
