Enjoyed a nice day on the lake today with the lower humidity and a rain free sky. Quite a few people out today for a Monday. We ran into "ditchdoc" a couple of times and chatted with him. Started at the nuke towers cat fishing first but the fishing was a little slow size wise for us but we did manage a few. I didn't take any pics because I kept expecting a larger one but it just didn't happen for us today. It might have been the front that came through yesterday that made some fish tight lipped today. We went on down to the bluff at Rocky Point Club ( green marker 481.3 I think ), and while I was throwing a crankbait Deb was catfishing and she caught a bass close to 5 pounds ( or larger ) in about 55-60 feet of water ! I knew that bass were deeper lately...but wow ! I had put two dead and two live ( barely ) medium shiners on a large circle hook and was just expecting it to be a cat and instead she reels in a "personal best " bass. Whatever works I guess but I'm glad for her as she usually has a tough time with artificial lures. I threw a live shiner out a few minutes later ( I'm no dummy ) and latched on to something "big" but mine was on a crappie hook with 4lb. test line - uh oh. I'm thinking it was a bass as it was running toward the top and not pulling and tugging like a cat. It was just so deep I never could quite get it to the top to find out. I just let it run as long as I could but the boat prop was about to hit the bluff and after a little bit of panic about that I lost my focus I think and "snap"...it broke off. We eased on around the point and I caught three more bass on a "Fat Free Fingerling" crankbait in about 15 feet of water. After a slow start it turned out to be a pretty good day after all. Sorry about the pics. The camera must have had moisture in it or something.
