Ok, to start off I'm an old geezer (older than dirt) from Ut. that has a case of very bad cabin fever!!!!! [frown] Wife is starting to get a little unhappy with the old man. This condition has been brought on by rain, rain and bad weather.[frown] I've tried some spots 3 times and returned home cold and wet, taking a while to warm up before snuggling with the old lady. Yeah, I caught a few and ultimately am happy but. ------------------. Should mention, I' m tuber. Now as I said, I'm from Ut. but have ponyed up for a year's out of state fees (2nd yr) because I know where the best bass fishing is, in most cases closer then any here in Ut. So, --------------, I'm faced with a dilemma. I'm trying to figure out my next try as to when and where. Yeah, I know, "when" is tough but any comments will be read with care. As to where, Weston, Glendale, Condie, Twin Lakes, The Narrows for smallies, Eagle Rock fo smallies, Devils Creek for bass, etc., etc. others? I'm not concerned with catching big numbers. Just enough to keep me "going".[Wink] Would like to keep maybe 2 for dinner since we they are so good eatun for the wifey and me. Hope this works for some suggestions/responses. Hopefully, in about 3 months, my best fishing bud, (Sparky) will be able to keep me company with his exuberance and love of life. [Image: sad.gif]
P.S. PM is more then welcome.[Smile]

I say try Twin Lakes . There is a post , I am sure you have read about Preston area lakes . Sounds like the Bass are biting and the Bluegill should turn on any time . The reason I say Twin is there is no size limit on Bass , so if you want to keep some you can . Just my 2 cents . Don't go this Saturday , it is free fishing day and will be packed . Curt G.

Hey leaky33, The smallies up the narrows have came out to play so you can even think of that spot... the river has been running a bit high so checking out the pacificorp webpage on river conditions could help out some. Good luck to ya hope sparky will join you soon[cool]

I tubed Devils creek for 5 hours today, landed around 15 trout, i switched and fished the rocks for bass no luck, water was pretty cold so i still think the bass need time there.. anyhow the fishing was decent. good luck, was using spinners.

Leaky as soon as the weather clears go to twin! Please release the larger bass and eat a few of the smaller ones.

I haven't caught any there this year yet, but my vote is for Twin. It sounds like it is warming up, and there is a 6 bass, no size limit there. It usually has too many small ones so take 6! The smaller bass are also less mercury. All of Idaho has a mercury warning on the bass. Mainly because they are top predators and are older by the time they reach a larger size. So the smaller ones are better for you just more filleting! Not trying to sound like a scare monger, just use good judgment. None of them are a serious threat unless you are eating more than a couple of meals a month.
Same goes for most large browns and cutts.

Well guys and gals (if they post), I'll keep watching the thread, thanks so far. Much appreciated.
dma_ayotta, - I'd go to the Narrows in a NYC heart beet. Will watch the flows which are kind of high.
Seems the biggest problem is getting a break in the weather with some warm weather for more than a day or 2. Every time I pick a day that is supposed to be good, I get caught in bad stuff. [mad]
To tell you the truth, I can't get Condie out of my mind. [:/] But for sure, I need to check out Twin!!!!! Decisions, decisions, decisions. [frown] It's tough being an old retired fart with a love of fishing and his dog buddy and a bit feeble minded.[laugh][laugh][laugh][laugh] Not feeble enough to stop tubing though!!

I can't get Condie off of my mind either, but I don't have any useful information for you since I haven't been down there in a year.

Your brother? For real??

So, Leaky, did you go anywhere yet? The Preston area lakes are starting to get warmer water after a couple of nice days of sun.

When Sparky does return to going with you, you might consider some thing like this vest for him so he doesn't get too tired out.

Went to Weston yesterday and had reasonable success. Seems like I always go back to what I know best. I have a vest for Sparky, might consider it. Also went to Condie and was very, very disappointed. Need to give Twin a shot. No reason for not doing it.[:/] For Sparky, everyone in the "know" say not to expect total healing for a year!!!! I's only been 5 mos. He did have a relapwere injyry last week chasing a tennis ball (dumb, dumb) but he's doing much better now. 1 year is 10% of his life. [mad] Don't worry, I'll be taking him out for short trips pretty soon. How about Glendale,? Any good reports?

I knew that it was a pretty long time recovery for Sparky, but I didn't know that it would be that long. Sorry to hear that, I know that you miss his companionship on your fishing trips.

The weather has been so strange (normal to be strange for Idaho) that it is really a guess on the larger reservoirs. Some have done ok on Twin. We went last week and it was not too good for us. I would concentrate on the smaller reservoirs as they seem to be warming up faster. I have heard that Johnson was catching ok. Twin's shallow areas should be coming along soon. Maybe the same for Glendale, but I don't know for sure yet. It is big enough that it may be a while yet.

We went to Lamont last night the water was 70 degrees. It is amazing what a few days of sun and warmer weather will do. We had a lot of fun catching the small bass, gills, and planter trout.

You know, I appreciate your comment on Sparky. Most folks just don't know how close a dog can get to ya emotionally as illogical as it might be. He's still being the happy, happy obnoxious guy that he's always been so i guess life ain't that bad. [Smile] Even if we had to live the rest of his years this way, he'd have a good life with me. It actually looks like a lot of the bass are moving onto a post spawn pattern now. Pretty scattered, but at least they're active. I'm going to head out tomorrow to one of the area lakes. I'll have to post a report when I get back.
