Hello,

I google mapped Blackfoot to Chesterfield resevoir...I have an option of doing the scenic route of about 41 miles through the hills....
I was wondering if anyone has taken this trip through blackfoot, rich lane, lincoln creek road, then portneuf presto road into the resevoir..google says 40 miles and about 1hr 45min....anyone know about the road conditions?

I might pull an old boat up there too, any suggestions or comments would be appreciated...

thanks

That road is extremely rough. Not maintained since it goes across the res. Also Lincoln creek road was washed out the other day from some heavy rains. I have not heard if it has been repaired yet.

You would have better luck going from Blackfoot Reservoir over to Soda Springs and then over to Chesterfield.

Thnks Prvrt,

I took the kids out trolling in Ririe Res on memorial day, it was great weather but we got skunked.' we trolled gold spoon, blue fox spinners, and rapalas, and pop gear with wedding rings....even used down riggers at about 30 ft....only two takers on spoon but we did not land them...I was hoping to get kokanee

I was thinking of exploring and taking the kids out trolling once again this weekend but somewhere I have never been such as Island Park, PaliSades, chesterfield, blackfoot res...Not sure how the Snake river flows have affected Island Park or PaliSades, but I figured chesterfield might not be affected at all....

If you go back to around December on the posts you will find one about ice fishing Blackfoot reservoir. There was a couple of guys from Utah that I met ice fishing on Blackfoot, they left and headed to Chesterfield on the back roads, said the road was fine and only took them like 45 minutes or so. Not sure which roads they took.

Thnks,
took the drive today...way too wet....I'm glad I did not pull a boat...about 3 miles from the resevoir we encounered lots of mud...

we got there at 130 and had to leave by three[frown]

we came back through Lava Hot Springs.

Took us and hour to get up there on the back roads and only 1.5 on the interstate.

when we got there a guy and his three kids were landing some fish off the bank (power bait)....we tried worms but got no strikes....it was great to go...I can't wait to go back with my toon or boat and try some flies...

Memo for the back roads is that its to muddy to pull anything through there right now....

thanks everyone!
