Okay so this saturday is my 18th birthday. And every year since I was 8 I have gone to the north slope of the uintas for my birthday. But this year because of the recent unusual weather the annual trip is cancelled. I also love to bass fish but the gorge has been extremely slow. ( I think due to the burbot) So my dad told me he would take me to cabelas to pick out my new fishing reel and then take me fishing in the afternoon. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can find some smallies from a float tube.(dad doesn't want to haul the boat that far) Any information would be wonderful. I was thinking maybe Jordanelle, Pineview, Deer Creek, or East Canyon but I haven't really fished any of them I have always gone to the gorge.

i plan to hit the Nelle and Deer Creek on friday. I will let you know how I do. I love small mouth fishing and both places have always been good to me.
They have SMB there in the tanks at Cabela's right? Try there!!! Let us know the out come though[
]!!! Kidding aside, from what I have seen and read The Nelle and DC are doing fairly well for SMB even with the unusual weather patterns we have been having. Have a fun/safe/happy B-Day and let us know how you do!!!

That's what I hear too. I fished it in the rain last Saturday and got a lot of hits on a Texas rigged plastic worm. I couldn't get a hookset though. I switched to buzzbaits to maybe entice a musky as per some advice from my GF's dad. Lots of follow ups no strikes (I think I need to find a double bladed buzzbait to be able to fish it a little bit slower) but I did end up hooking into a fat smallie and lost her at the shore. I thought she was a small musky till I got her close she was probably 3 lbs. It was probably the best day of not catching a thing that I've ever had. I'll be back up there after the smallies and muskies this weekend for sure.

East Canyon has been great by boat I'm told. Shore fishing is tougher for the smallies. I was up Thursday and Friday. 3 healthy smallies. 1 each on drop shot robo worm, 1 texas senko weightless, and 1 dragging a carolina rigged tube over some gravelly bottom.
Hopefully the bad weather is over for a while and the bite will pick up.
