launched shortly after the gate opened to calm 54 degree water. No wind or bugs. Made first hook up by north dike an hour later, on red/chartuse roadrunner. Nothing else for 45
minutes so went to the feed lot for a while 4 the chop run me back to the marina. Put on a blue 1in tube and hooked up again in 6 ft of water. Nice cat. 30 minutes later hooked a nice crappie in 3ft of water on same jig. Then the blow arrived. OMG it was awful. Thank goodness I had a motor or I would still be in trouble. Put her up on 5 and managed to get out ok. Don't know why but the crappie pic didn't come out.

Glad you got back in safe. This weather is crazy. You think it is going to cooperate for a while, and then it sneaks up on you again, especially the ever blowing, never slowing wind!

Don't let having a motor lure you out further or longer than you feel safe. They aren't infallible. But they are great as a back-up and assist.

Those are some nice fish though!

I was taking no chances at all. Soon as the chop came up, I got back to the Marina where it is protected a mite. I know that Mother Nature wins every time.[Smile]
Plan on doing another float this weekend with
Noble(Grandson). It is supposed to be nicer I think.
