I posted this in the introduction area without thinking.....should have done it here. I just signed up to the forum and am a new member. Here's the question I mis-posted.

Okay, I'm new from Arizona. I have a 2 1/2 week fly fishing trip to Colorado and Wyoming. Looking at a loop through South Park (going to fish the South Platte) and then the upper Arkansas River (Buena Vista to Leadville). Can anybody help me with river access info through that stretch and any pointers?

Hayden Meadows opened up a few years ago above Leadville so you have a ton of access up there, once you get towards buena vista access is more limited and there are only a few places you can actually get on the river, you will see the signs on the road. i would assume below salida the river is blown out. i would personally stay above twin lakes and fish Hayden Meadows, the water is typically clearer even during run off, even if it is still a little high, with the amount of cut banks on that stretch of the river there really is no need to fish the main channel as all the browns are hiding in those cuts. let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and provide info. That is some good advice. From everything I could find, I didn't see much about a lot of access in that area south of Leadville. I really like the idea of camping around Turquoise Lake for a couple of nights and fishing from there, but didn't really know if that strip of the Arkansas had good access or not.
