Sorry! Haven't heard of any being caught on the SF yet. However, F&G is probably not patrolling the south end due to the extra miles it takes to get there so I would guess some are being caught, just not reported. With F&G reporting the last few years you never know what's going on!! Looks like some are still being caught at Riggins but slowin' down. Hope that helps!!

I made a crazy run to riggins on friday of last week and it was slow however the water on the main was slighly muddy but it had dropped two feet in the 12 hours we were there and heard some locals talking that is was going be really good going into this week. We left riggins and stopped by the south fork on the way home and it was looking better just no fish yet.

thanks going to be there this friday let everyone know how it was.

I am heading to the lower end of the SF either late tonight, or early tomorrow. If anyone has any "more up to date" info than has already been posted, I'd really appreciate hearing about it today. Otherwise, I'll give a report on Sunday.

Thanks for the heads up Hoolee.

I think I am going to go the the SF even though the reports don't seem to be very promising. Not likely I'll see you there, though. I am planning on hitting the lower end below the washout. I was looking at Phoebe creek on the map and I believe it is above the washout. If you get down on the lower end on Saturday, I'll be driving a gold Ford Focus. Stop by and say, Hi.

A few years ago I hit the SF just as the fish arrived and had an awesome day. Limited on my 3 with 2 CR's for a total of 5 fish landed by 7:30AM. What a morning that was! The thing I liked the most about it was that fishing was awesome and there were no crowds. That day the word got out and I had a hard time finding a place to fish the very next day.

I know that if I go to Riggins, I am going to have a hard time finding a place to fish, so I think I'll just settle for whatever I can get on the SF. It beats working.

Good luck to you.

Not much happening on the SF yesterday. I only talked to one guy who had hooked into a fish. It was a native. Water was high and just a little dirty. Fishing should pick up soon.

On the way home, my son and I stopped at Cascade. In the first half hour, I caught a 13 inch (or so) bullhead, then a fairly nice perch.

A little later, I caught 3 more bullheads and then the wind died down. When the wind died down, the water cleared up a lot and the trout started hitting. I was busy messing with one of my rods and I looked down and the other one was bent over and as I grabbed it, a big fish jumped. It was the one on my line. I handed the rod to my son and he landed a 24 inch rainbow. Over the next several hours we caught several trout, some of them pretty nice sized 17-19 inches or so. I also lost one that was pretty close to 20 and had one break my line that I never saw, but I know it was bigger than any we caught.

The hot thing at Cascade was a worm with a green (garlic) marshmellow.

I just got in from the south fork and 5 fish tagged below buckhorn bridge but they seem to be moving at a real snails pace, some reported to be jumping in the rapids above the washout. I also heard that there was sixteen in the trap, that was also before the trap actually got put in LOL. There was 3 in the weir today. This weekend shall be a real treat hopefully.

Latest report is now 2.5 days old. Anyone with a new report?

I am heading up in the morning, but won't be able to report back until Saturday at best.

Still only have 2 fish in the trap, but it hasnt been updated. When I was in Riggins this past weekend. The main salmon boat fisherman were hammering then salmon down by White bird. One guide had 37 hookups in a 4 hour trip. This tells me that the main slug of summers heading to the SF is still downriver. Im sure theres fish in the SF but the main run isnt there yet. The fishing on the Salmon right in Riggins i.e park hole and the salmon/little salmon confluence area was very slow. Usually if theres any amount of fish moving through this area is ON. The water was pretty off color though so it may have impacted the bite. But on Sun morn they only creeled 8 fish at the confluence. On Friday we fished with the IDGF biologist (buddies buddy) who was going to put in the SF trap the next day. He didnt think the run was through Riggins yet. But was saying 4-9000 fish were predicted for the SF. With 18000+ over LG its probabable closer to 9 than 4 which should make for a great fishery. So when they get there oh boy.
Flows are at 1180 and holding steady or dropping. Post up when you get back.
