Fishing Forum

Had one of my best father's days ever. We went to church this morning and then cooked out hot dogs and brats. I had not washed a car in a while so I washed cars while the boys cooked. Then we all went to Toy Story 3 and although it was pretty good as a sequel still not as good as the first. What I really wanted to do was go fishing. Well Sam suggested we go and that was all it took. Mom stayed home and Jack and Sam and I got on the water around 7 and fished to 9. We started in a deep hole and never left. Jack got the first fish. I nice 2+ bass. There were balls of shad and the bass were in there. We caught four more about the same size. emoSmile emoFish Then Sam hooked something that fought a little different and boated a nice striper - about 3+ emoDance Jack hooked into a nice white bass and I caught a few too. Then I had to put my rod down and help pull hooks out of fish with pliers. Second time a nice white bass took off with one of my favorite jigs! Then I hooked something big. It pulled drag and ran all over the place - I had to work it out from under the boat and then kept it away from the trolling motor. When it came up both boys were screaming catfish and then realized it was one big paddlefish!!! emoDance My first one ever. Got it to the boat and it took off and pulled the hook. emoBang At least we saw it up close though. What a great father's day surprise. That got our adrenaline rushing. Well what are the chances of hooking another paddle fish?? About a half hour later still catching all types of fish when bam, my line is screaming......man what is this? Turns out after a great fight another paddle fish comes up and Sam boga grips it and hauls it up out of the water and it is as long as Jack is tall. I am trying to get my camera and splash emoBang It slips from the boga grip and I have it for maybe ten seconds still hooked up and then the hook pulls! emoBang No picture so I guess you will have to trust me. Great day. Magical fathers day with the boys and yes I am going back to get that picture with the paddle fish. I will post some pics of the boys later. Happy Fathers Day guys!
