I got out of the house for some bassin from the eastern shore on Sunday morning. I was tossing purple 6" power bait worms rigged weightless. I had 8 hookups and landed two in the first 30-45 minutes of being there but as soon as the sun hit the water the bite was completely shut down. I couldn't buy a bite for the rest of the morning. I tried everything that's ever worked for me there; different colored worms, perch colored rapalas, buzzbaits, swim baits, curly tail jigs. Nothing! But the action was hot for the first 30 minutes before the sun touched the water. If only I had woken up earlier.

Took the kids camping there (first time) Sunday-Monday. We caught a few bluegills and some small bass in the afternoon -mostly around the west-side north of the outlet where there's some reeds.
We'd caught some bass along the east side towards the sandpiles before. But no action this time.

Monday, tried the north end along the treeline - spotted up both bass and BGs, but they weren't interested in much. Hooked up some burly trout in the middle of the lake. Good fighters! Probably 15-17 inchers, and girthy. But all the ones hooked managed to leap and head-shake off the hooks! Did see a lot of follows too - that's fun stuff, sight-fishing!
Had a lot of follows on a flashy meps spinner. It's fun to see those big trout dart back and forth behind the lure. If they'd only been biting a bit more too!

I didn't realize the campground there only has a single fireplace for all the sites to share. Guess I gotta change my cooking strategies!

And - gotta set the alarm for O'Dark Thirty and get up early. Between the bugs and the cottonwood fluff - evening fishing gets a big tough. They sure like my boat light and the warmth of the motor.

Took the wife and kids over there for some bank-tanglin' last Saturday mid-morning. My wife landed her biggest fish, ever- a fat and lengthy Largie. We didn't have time for a measurement, so we threw that hog back in so she could get bigger. Wife got a kick out of that, especially since she showed me up.

Other than that, just a few blue gills here and there. But it was a great time.
