We went down to the Green last Friday and Saturday. Well, I had my best fly fishing day ever. Between two of us, we managed around 50-60 fish. There were some small ones in there, but there were also some nice 16-20 inchers as well. We had a mix of rainbows and browns. And I swear I caught a brookie. It had red spots and did not look like a rainbow or brown. Is it possible there was a brookie in there? Caught all fish on san juan worms, egg patterns, micro midge, and the treat of the day was a red wd40. It was truly amazing. We were catching so many fish that we didn't stop fishing from 9am until 5pm. By then we were dead tired. One day we didn't take food, and only had water. But the adrenaline kept us going. I am kicking myself for not bringing a camera. Nothing was feeding on top but I heard a few guys catch some on ants and hoppers. Doesn't look like the cicadas are going to come out. The funny thing is the guy at the fly shop said he wouldn't even use an egg pattern or wd40. Oh well, good thing we tried. I am totally hooked on this fly thing now. Time in the river is the best teacher. It seems like I understand things more and more each trip I go. Awesome trip. Can't wait to go again.
