Well I'm still waiting for parts for my Madison. Its been
one mount now!!!!
Anyways, I did few mods for now
-fixed stripping apron attachment system
-fixed rear platform attachment.
-made and installed lean bar lock
-installed oars holder
-fixed frame so standing platform can move.
-installed one Scoddy fly rod holder
-attached side bags to frame
Thats all for now but I'm very sure that there will be more[Smile]
Thank you everyone for your input and help.[Wink]

What parts you waiting for?

I like where you are going, but if I could offer a little been there done that observation:
First the apron.
I see it is tied to the Oar towers, but is it connected to the Lean bar? If so, how do you slide the platform and lean bar up with it on?

Secondly, The brace for the lean bar. You have to clip it to lock it down every time?

Dave's is similar, but it has a notch in the metal strap and a bolt that the notch clips on to. One easy movement. Flip the strap up and the bar goes down, no clips.

Lastly, the deck. Isn't there holes in the side of the deck? They are for the straps. Is that strap loop stainless?

Meant to tell you, I got the aprons I told you about. $20. each
The ONLY connect to two snaps on the side of the seat so out of the way from the standing platform.

Deck straps:

Here is the apron on the Escape, but the snaps are on the side of the molded plastic seats.

I'm still waiting for -oars, transport wheel, lean bar apron.
Its been like 4 weeks. I think that is ridiculous that they
don't stock items like that. I'm getting pretty upset
about it.

Anyways, The apron you see is for sitting down use only.
There will be one more on the lean bar for standing
use. It comes off very easy and folds down easy .

I seen the original brace system for the lean bar-don't
like it. It maybe just me but I like to overkill a little.

Deck- yes there are holes with sharp edges that can
cut the straps. I like the loops better. I think they are
chrome plated.

Im also getting new seat as well.

BTW- thats a cool apron you got there.

Peter, your modifications look great. I like the quick releases on the apron. Do they come with those or did you put that strap across the front on?
[signature]
I really like the apron you have. Could you tell me how wide it is across the front. Also what is stiffening the sides. I have played with the idea of a piece of bamboo through the front of mine, but am still looking at other ideas. Theirs looks great. Do you have an url for them?
Thanks!

I too am waiting on Oars, but that isn't NFO's fault. The company that makes them. They literally have to MAKE them the length you want. Not like the other oars that were just cut off, attach blade.
Wheel and apron....well, doesn't make much sense on those taking that long unless they are completely out and they have to be made.
The shop is too small to handle ALLOT of back stock.

Just thinking rust on the loops. This is the second boat I have had with a deck and no cut straps. Not a big deal though. they basically just hold the deck in place...it really can't go anywhere...LOL

Cpierce, it is plastic around the apron. Same apron I had on my Echo and in my opinion one of the best designs I have ever seen. No sags at all.
Check out Venture Outdoors and call Carol, tell her Joni told you.

It is Dave Scadden apron. What I did is rigid up the front
by inserting a piece of aluminum inside.
Then I removed the piece of foam from the rear. Installed
quick release clips up front and made those straps for
the oar towers.
Rear attachment to lean bar is only on the left side
for now. Because that is where my line goes (left side).
I'm not sure if I'm going to do the right rear as well.
I need to take it out on the water and test it.

Size of apron 26''x17''. It is large witch I like.

When I fold it , It is very small. I put it between the left packet and oar tower/oar holder. Fits in there very nicely.

Hope this helps.

Hi Joni.
I see that your Scaddy holders are attached to your rear
deck. Bolts on the bottom and nuts up top. How did you
tight up those bolts without the nuts spinning inside
the Scoddy holder?

Peter

They are stainless steel Machine Bolts. Philips head. Then a piece of the Industrial Velcro (the soft side) over the heads.
[signature]
I'm sorry, I don't think that I made my self clear. How did you tighten the bolts without the nut spinning inside the
Scotty base ???
[signature]
Oh yea, forgot about that. You can glue the nuts in the holes or I use a BIG flat blade screw driver. Stick it in the hole and it keeps the nut from turning. Kind of wedge it. Does that make sense?
[signature]
Perfect sense. I was thinking about glue but I will try
to wedge it in first.
Thank you darling.

By the way, I e-mailed Dave after your post and here is his answer:

Peters wheel has shipped and his oars will ship on Thurs. Stripping baskets first part of next week.

Its driving me crazy...Our vendors just can't keep up. With the economy decline last year everyone is behind which makes us behind.

So, stay in touch okay?

Nice mods, especially that apron. I had a Scotty on like that and it walked away. So becareful where you park/leave you boat. Or glue that thing in place.

Where do you think my third one came from Ken.....[laugh][laugh][laugh]

Peter, you might want to move the Scotty. The standing platform apron might be catching the rods. Also, with it there and a rod in it you are limiting space...just a thought.
[signature]
Hmmmmm you maybe right. I just need to take the boat
out on the water and try it out..............
I'm very sure that there is a lot of room for improvement .
As I know my self, I will change things "couple" of times.
I got the SFC going good after few outings , so I'm sure
this boat is going to be the same.

Thank you for all your input and help Goddess.

Peter,

Another thing you'll want to add is a PVC rod holder on the lean bar. Works great when your netting the fish while standing or adjusting the boat with the oars or motor or when you need your hands free for a little "relief".

Jim
[signature]
I have one and I don't think I have used it yet....have you Jim?
I just sit down to land I guess.
[signature]
I'm always leery of laying my rod down without attaching it to something. Once I net the fish, I put the rod in the holder while removing the hook and releasing the fish. If I'm sitting the lean bar stripping basket kind of gets in the way.

Do the same for minor re-positioning with the motor or the oars.

Guess I can only do one thing at a time.
