went to the golf ponds next to the novel building in provo (thanks bvs for giving me the info!) got there at around 11am. i filled a bubble about half way with water and put a chunk of bread on the hook, didnt catch anything for the first 20 minutes. i decided to try some home made dough bait instead. waited a few minutes...then my reel started screaming and i hooked into my first carp. got him in and decided to keep him as future bait. i managed to catch one more, it was larger than the last one, about ten pounds. my dad and uncle were getting bored so we decided to leave at about 1pm. great day, carp fight hard and it was well worth the drive!

I'd love to see your recipe. Sometimes simpler is better. I'd sure SEE enough carp floating around - but I haven't hooked into one, yet. Poked one with my rod!
We used to catch suckers in Illinois, and I remember some serious fights. Plus I keep hearing tales of OTHER fish caught on carp meat, so I'd like to find some.
I wondered how well bread would stay on a hook. White or wheat? Croutons? Do carp like garlic like trout do?!
Our Logan River trout really enjoy hamburger, but it's so impossible to keep on a hook! I've heard - start with frozen, and get the higher fat content, not the super lean stuff. I took a stab at making some burger-dough. But it didn't seem to work as well, even though it stayed on the hook longer. Might need to try experimenting some more.
Thanks.
