Hello folks!

Now, I'm visiting the Saltlake city from Japan
for my business.
But, I can cast a line in early morning or late evening.
What a chance!

I hit Mirror Lake on Saturday morning.
Fish was very fast at 7:00.
I managed to catch some rainbows aploximately
more than 12" and some brooks around 10".
The conditions of the books were good.
It looks wild though they were stocked fish while
the poor rainbows had damaged fin.
All the brooks were hooked at shades or fallen trees
on the shoreline while most of the rainbows were caught
near the small inlets.
At 8:00, there were many people and it was getting slow.
I realized that the lake is not for anglers but for families.
So I stopped fishing and back to the Saltlake city.
I enjoyed fast fishing and it was the first time for me
to catch and see brook trout so I satisfied very much.

On Sunday, I went to North Fork of Provo River.
It was amazing for me.
According to the information on internet, there are
native cutthroat though it is possible to be hybridized
with rainbow trout.
The North Fork is clear while the upper section of
Provo River is not clear.
So it might have been the best time to hit North Fork
where was just after the recovery from muddy condition,
I supposed.
In small branch of North Fork, every pocket with
overhanging tree or fallen tree gave me some brooks
around 8 to 9".
In addition, I had some cutthroat from 8" to 10" from
main current but not fastest section and some 5" to 6"
from shallow pools.
It was only one hour. What a great stream!
Unfortunately I faced a fence at around 0.1 mile from the Mirror Lake Highway.
I didn't know that private property exists on North Fork...
I had no time to go another hole so I stopped fishing.

I'm sorry to upload such long post.
I hope to share the Uinta information with you.
I appreciate some board members who gave me
offers and information.

Looks like you made it a week earlier then you thought in February. Glad to hear the stream and lake treated you well.

whats the difference between the upper provo and the north fork of the provo?

The reason the brook trout look healthier and wilder is because they have been in there since last July. The DWR stocks brook trout at around 2.7" long.

North Fork is a small tributary of the Upper Provo. You cross it about a mile above the turn off for the Lower Provo Campground on HWY 150. The Upper Provo was fishable last week if you just search out the places with the side channels above and below a couple miles where the North Fork of the Provo comes in. The whole thing will probable be fishable this week.

As riverdog says, North Fork is a small tributary of it.
I parked in North Fork Trailhead where is 0.15 mile above the North Fork bridge of upper Provo River.
There is a road along the North Fork but moterized
vehicles are not permitted though there were some
cars camping...

I saw some casting on upper Provo on the weekend.
They might be good anglers.
It was too high for me to fish...
Anyway it would be good now.
