I got there a little after noon. The water was a little choppy but I thought it the wind would be dropping. I made it down the west side about a mile and the chop turned to full on waves and they were white caps. I turned the pontoon around and headed back. The wind was so bad and the waves were so rough I had to have the trolling motor on 4 to make head way of 1 MPH. That setting on friday was running about 3.5 MPH. The water was splashing over the pontoons and that made them colder. When they got colder they went a little limp which made things even worse. I never even saw a fish on the fish finder. When I turned around I put the rods away and just worked on getting back alive. I didn't see anyone catch any fish or talked to anyone with fish. In these pictures I was just headding out. The second picture shows a couple of good sized waves but they got real bad on the way back. I took some video of it in case my family wanted to know what happened

It got real bad about 3:00 to 3:30. Runninig across the bay out from the boat dock was not that bad. I went west until the waves let down a pinch and turned the motor to 5 and smoked across. I am so sick of the wind this year.

ya know i thought that toon looked familiar so i was checking out your plate and told the wife i should ask if he is Ron but i didn't. we ended up fishing till around 7 and managed 3 hookups but only landed 2. pretty tough fishing conditions.

my best fishin was straight across from the boat landing last year. I caught 2 walleye, 2 trout and 3 perch off that rocky point.

Man I was thinking about you. I went to the Minadoka Dam to see how fast the water was. I was thinking we need to float that for cats. It is too fast I think for my toon motor to get me back if I drift down. Ron

Its running pretty good and may still be a little chilly. top side has been pretty productive tho wife has been knocking the crap out of the kamloops. we went up there last weekend and she caught one that was over 8lbs but all i had was a chitty cell phone pic and no way to transfer it [frown]. wind has also been a problem down here in the valley but we can always take that little boat i have too [fishin]

To be honest I don't think temp is a huge problem. Remember I have been catching cats in 48 degree water this year[pirate] Do you know what the temp is below the dam? Ron

Well that's true I don't Know what it is I will check and see what it is later this week, we are headed up below the dam to try out the drift boat and let the wife practice her casting [img]../../../images/gforum/sly.gif[/img]. I have talked to a few people who have been out fishing at snake river sports and the train bridge and no body has picked up anything very big Just the small mud cats and a few of the cats they planted the other day.
