Well, took a ride down there last evening after spending the day

car shopping with my friend. The DMV was more fun than Sunset Park!

First off, it was a really nice park pond. The ducks hissed at me and I hissed

back at them which was more fun the fishing. Once again, watercraft ruined

my fishing trip, in hte form of 1/8 scale radio controlled nitro boats....

I started off using a SLUG-GO carolina rigged, but changed to Rapala

Crankbait to avoid all the weeds on the bottom of the pond. Tons of

weeds on the bottom! After still getting tangled in weeds 60% of the time,

I switched to a Bomber Fat A, painted like a crawfish, a shallow diver.

I only got in the weeds about 5 % of the time, but still no fish.

The hardest part of the night was watching these small bass follow my lure

right into shore, then swim off. They were only 3 - 5 inches long..

A guy fishing near me caught a small bass using anchovies. Another guy

on hte other end of the pond caught a small carp, around a pound or so.

Other than another fishless day, 1/8 scale boats and and aweful smell from

the duck island, the night wasn't too bad. I covered alot of ground with that

Fat-A...too bad the fish weren't a bit bigger, maybe they'd strike it..

Hey TheBlackAdder, Great report. I was talking to a park service worker and they said they can't keep the fish in the urban ponds because of the homeless and people overfishing the ponds. When they stock the ponds people come from all over to get them. They don't care how big they are they just take them. I have seen better luck at Lorenzi park pond.

Not really, no... [blush]

The last time I went was a day or two before Labor Day. With work and school taking up most of my time, I usually stay home on my days off and sleep or go to a casino for a bit...
I'm trying to scrounge up some money, around 500 bucks, then combine that with my tax return next april, and hopefully have enough for a down payment on a used bass boat. then I'll probably go every other week or so....unless i can luck out and find a gem dirt cheap.

I'm probably going to go up to Floyd Lamb State Park Around X-mas and see what's going on there... its supposed to be a nice place.

I miss Pennsylvania though, where I could go under the bridge in my hometown along the river, or 15 minutes up the mountain to a whole buch of places...Everytime I go to lake mead, it looks like the ocean with the bloody waves crashing all over... so it kinda turns me off from going too often ....lol
