I am thinking of heading to Willard on tues for some wiper action but I have not seen many posts of late. Has anyone been finding those pesky fish lately? Any info would be good as I may take a newbie for them out with me. Pm me if you do not wish your comments to be made public.

Holy crap! What happened to the wiper fishing in Willard?!? I used to go there and always catch a few fish, I have fished it 8 days in the last 2 weeks and only have 2 wipers in the boat, and one walleye....
I have fished everywhere on that lake, sunrise to sundown, used numerous old lures, and a bunch of new ones, anyone else having any luck? What are you using?

I fished willard today from 700 to 9pm and caught 3 wipers. Biggest was 23inches with two 21inchers! all caught on crankbaits trolled at 2.2 mph. Talked to two guys in another boat that both caught their limits. Lots of traffic on the water but i did mark a bunch of fish

Where'd ya find em Wildcat? I've tried along the north dike, and the sw corner, but no luck there. Hit one crossing from the SW back to the south marina. Realizing now - we should have doubled back and worked that area for a while.
Next time out I plan to cross over to the light-pole, and work south from there to the corner. Still hoping to meet my first wally eye-to-eye!
Next toy on my list is a marker bouy. And a lure retriever, so next time I snag up....
need to get the Walley Divers some excercise!

Why do you want a marker bouy when you can use a GPS? Just wonderin'?

I run a GPS in the bow, console, and stern of my boat and I still use my marker bouys. Somtimes a visual reference is worth its weight in gold. I like using them for a casting reference if I mark a pod of fish, lot easier to cast to that then at a screen[
]. They also make good decoys too. If your around alot of people mark your actual fish with your GPS and decoy the rest with a bouy a ways away, you just have to make sure to fish your buoy every now and then to keep em thinkin theres fish there[laugh].
That dont always work though. I was fishing a tourny a couple of years ago and was on a hot bite right of a small break no longer than 20 yds long. We were in a bay with a lot of other tourny boats. I told my partner that we are gonna cruise out about 75 yds, act like im catching a fish, get the net, do fake netting on the side of the boat that no one can see, throw buoy, then fish the real spot. Well, after this fiasco I threw the buoy and almost as soon as it hit the water BOOM fish on! Uh oh. Two more rods went down almost the same time and I realized I just threw the bouy on a REAL pod of fish. I scrambled to get the buoy in but by that time it was too late[:/]. I had about 8 bows pointed right at me. So much for the decoying!

I caught all the fish from eagle beach to a little south of the n marina. their was no color pattern each fish was caught on a different lure from a jointed shad rap in pale perch color to lc pointers in aurora gold . The fellas I talked to that both limited trolled the sw dike with cranks

Is everybody using planar boards? I was wondering if you need with the water deeper.

Not everybody uses planer boards. And those that do, do not because of water depth but rather to get their lures out away from the boat. An exception to that might be when trying to troll up close to the dike without the boat being too close to the rocks.
