Got on the water at 6:45 this morning mainly to run my motor as I have been experiencing some power loss lately. Thanks to help from wrechin2, I narrowed it down to a faulty fuel pump and it is running smoothly now. And, who can just go to the river without fishing? So I made my way to the dam to fish the current for a while. Using a mini fluke on a 1/4 head, I caught a very small drum, about 8 inches. I thought that hatched out of the egg weighing at least five pounds so this was a learning experience. After not doing well right up next to the dam, I started floating the current where I caught a 19" smallie on the fluke that fought like a champ. It was a beautiful fish. After drifting below the RR bridge,
I noticed the bass were killing the shad near the boat ramp so I trolled over and landed three more chunky largemouth on the fluke and a spinnerbait. Nice morning, no river traffic, boat running well, no complaints here!
