Pete and I put in at Riverpark about 6:30 am and headed for the dam. Quite a few boats up there. Thought we might have seen Drumking and Bayman fishing their favorite top water spot, but didn't want to disturb them.

We threw the tackle box at all the vacant current breaks up there w/o much luck. Pete did hook about an 18 in. largemouth, but it wiggled off when he tried to swing it in the boat.

We then concentrated on mostly offshore areas where the depth dropped to at least 20 ft. The action was slow, but we did catch some pretty decent fish. Our best fish were a 19 in. smallie (DD22 lure), a 17 in. smallie (tube bait), a beautiful green 17 in. spot (jig/pig), a 16 in. largemouth (jig/pig)) and a nice blue cat (jig/pig). We also caught several smaller spots and largemouth, a redeye, a red breasted sunfish and a small drum.

One bummer was when Pete hooked a flathead catfish on a DD22 and the net,man (me) botched the job and let the lure get hung in the net so the fish got leverage to get off. We figured he'd go at least 15 lbs. Oh well, my bad!

The flow was 14K cfs and the water temp 82.

All fish were released.

Regards Pete Sr.
