When I got up today I heard a knock at my door and my nephew Ryan said &quot;Unkle Mark, can we go fishing?&quot; I of course was ready to go. We ran to a deep spot and used 1/16oz jigs with BG shads. Most of the fish were at about a 35 count reeling fastX2 then letting the bait drop for a 10-14 count. We caught a 2lb LM then a 2lb white, a few yellows, then things slowed down. The fish were just not cooperating so we decided to move and try vertical jigging. Ryan looked like he wasn&#39;t sure that this would work but he got really excited when he hooked a heavy fish. He fought it like a champ and when he got it to the surface it was a TARP crappie. Here&#39;s a pic of the crappie with it&#39;s proud owner. We only had about 45 minutes to fish.<br /><br />I also went fishing yesterday morning with a neighbor&#39;s son in law. Wes is a fly fisherman so I had him throw at a shallow area that has been holding bass but we had no takers so I thought we&#39;d try for some deep fish. We caught around 25 yellows and 6 big whites fishing with the usual 1/16oz jigs with BG shads. We fished for about 2 hours. Hopefully we can go fishing for a few hours before Church in the morning Sunday. I was thinking it would be fun fishing for the whites on a fly rod but the fish are so deep that one would have to fish with a sinking line and that takes away some of the fun of fly fishing. We might try that in the morning.
