[#000050]Destination Fish Lake. [/#000050]
[#000050] Took the wife along this trip for a great little get away. Stayed in one of the cabins at Fish Lake Resort.[/#000050]
[#000050]Fishing was fast and furious on Saturday, but could only land smaller fish even though I was trolling around 30' deep. Seems as though the tactics have changed from the last time I was down there. Down rigged through the schools of Macks in the evening, but couldn't get any takers,[/#000050]
[#000050]Wind was bad after 10:00AM, but fishable.[/#000050]
[#000050]Went out early Sunday morning to calm waters and beautiful wildlife. Eagles and Hawks flying, Swans on the water, and Deer on the banks getting early morning drinks of water. Never can get used to how pretty this place really is.[/#000050]
[#000050]Down rigged to 50' and back about 75'. (the old guy at the marina told me the fish are afraid of downrigger balls in this lake [:p]) [/#000050]
[#000050]Started catching decent fish, Splake, Rainbows and one really nice Mack. The extreme wind came up again around 11:00AM along with rain this time.[/#000050]
[#000050][/#000050]
[#000050]The new owner and chief cook at Bowery Haven was in fine style. We ate brekfast, lunch and dinner there for both days. The food was excellent! [cool][/#000050]
[#000050][/#000050]
[#000050]In all we caught and release around 40 fish in the two days so it wasn't all bad even though the wind makes it tough. [/#000050]
[#000050][/#000050]
[#000050]On a side note: DNR was doing their job on the ramps checking for compliance with Mussel compliance.[/#000050]

[#000050]Yeah, I thought that was odd advice myself, but I listen to people older than me and especially since he works there. He also told me to troll for Macks with pop gear in front of jointed Rapalas....[crazy] something I've never tried before AND it worked..go figure. Not sure what would happen if a Mack ate a 10lb downrigger ball, though??[/#000050]

well like i said i have had them grab my ball and pull line off my rigger trying to eat the ball. i can see them on the finder come right on up and grab it.. and a lot of time they well shoot up off the bottom and take a look at the ball and falow it for a while too.. it happens more at FG then fish lake but it dose happen..

by the way how big was the laker ya got and do ya have any pic's?

The Laker was aboyt 28", but didn't want to take her out of the water and I was by myself so no pic.

So are your rigger balls painted with Perch colors?? [blush]

I can confirm that they aren't scared of downrigger balls there, the largest fish i've ever dealt with up there hit about three feet behind a bright orange downrigger ball.
One thing i've learned at fishlake is don't believe anybodys advice. I've been told by some of the "local experts" that any lures over 2 or 3 inches are a waste of time for macks, and that macks won't come any shallower than 50 feet. That may be true during the heat of the summer but for the rest of the year, no way. There is alot of misguided info handed out up there, put in your time and you'll find out what's true and what's bullcrap.
