The wife and I are headed for Porcupine in the A.M. hopefully the water is still high enough for me to get the ol' Crestliner in. We were suppose to be at Flaming Gorge yesterday for a few days but I just got the truck out of the shop so I guess Porky will have to do for this trip. Haven't fished it from a boat this year yet.

I was up there last Friday. There were about 6-8 boats on the water when we got there around 6 pm. I didn't do any fishing; we were just enjoying an evening away from the house with the kids and some friends. Ended up saving a couple people from drowning - scary moment. But I think you should be ok with the boat.

Let us know how you do!

The people you saved from drowning weren't kids that swam to the far side of the lake by the spring to dive off the cliffs were they? A few years back there was a bunch of teens doing that and some of them were too tired to swim back across so I ferried a few across slowly with some in my boat and a couple hanging on to the sides. I advised them to have some type of floatation devices next time in case there wasn't some one around to help. They were just having fun on a warm summer day and weren't really thinking. I'll make sure to post on how we do up there. [fishin]

Well, I'd say they were 18-20, but they were only about 30-40 yards off shore. No flotation devices. But fortunately for them, we were there. My buddy took off in his kayak as I threw him a life jacket. By the time he got there, two of them were bobbing pretty well. He towed them back to shore.

I guess you saw our post from a couple of weeks back, when Jason and I went up there. It was fine for launching then, so I doubt it has gone down too far since. Only problem were all the people camping at the launch area. Everyone was asleep when we arrived but when we went to leave, it was a mess[unimpressed]. Good luck

A few years ago a kid drowned up there doing the same thing.

Thought maybe you would be at the Gorge for the KFF get together, we had planned on going, had reservations and my sticker required for boating WY waters but ended up putting the old Ford in the shop for a few days on our return from Montana trip. Just got it out last night after work. Guess since the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty was up last July it's time for things to start going wrong. Might have to start looking for a new ride, damn I hate car/truck payments though. I have to launch by the spring as I can't make the sharp left at the top of the chute comming out with this boat I used to be able to make it with my 17 footer years a ago. The other boat had a roller bunk on it so when the water was high I could unload and load at the first point past the cattle guard.
