I realize this is a few days late, but this is the first chance I have had to get online.
I have been anxiously waiting to hit Utah 150 this year and do some fishing in a few of my favorite High Uinta spots.
Left about 11am on Friday morning and headed to Broadhead Meadows. No snow, not too much water or mudholes to navigate on that rough old road back to the meadows. Lots of people camping, but no one on the meadow. Mosquitos are out in FULL force though, so anyone who heads up would be wise to grab a bottle of mosquito repellent.
Fished the meadow with a mepps # 1 silver blade, and caught dozens of the little brookies that live in that little stream. Largest one was only about 6" - 7"
After having our fun on Broadhead, it was time to head back home, with a quick trip to the North Fork of the Provo. Fished for about 40 minutes, and caught 2 rainbows, 2 cutts, and 1 brookie.
After eating at the Rhode Island Diner in Oakley, we headed to Rockport to try for a few smallies.
Fished from the west shore, using a #2 copper mepps, and only had a few strikes, hooked nothing. Sun was setting, and the western edge was beginning to fall in to shadow.
Great day, lots of fish.
Up next? Hoping to head back up to Utah 150 to a small little lake in the Camp Steiner area that is full of some decent sized brookies. Hoping to also hit Stillwater Fork, and hopefully hit up Christmas Meadows before too much longer. Also on the agenda, is hitting the Duchesne River above the east portal.
So many places to fish, so little time.
