[#000050]I'm a long term BFTr and have fished most lakes in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Utah, mostly trolling and downrigging, but have never fished Bear Lake. I need to change that.[/#000050]
[#000050][/#000050]
[#000050]I understand that Mack fishing is done mostly the same as at the Gorge, using medium sized Rapalas and Flatfish in black, silver, pearl or chartruese, 50-60 feet and close to the bottom. I've also seen on the archives that good places to start are the rock pile, cisco beach, first and second points. Other than that, that's all I know.[/#000050]

[#000050]If anybody could shed some additional light I would really appreciate it. Launching areas, techniques, gear, etc.[/#000050]

[#000050]PM, if you will and I promise to keep it under my hat... [Wink] and thanks for any info.[/#000050]

Sounds like you have the general idea and locations to start Steve. As far as, [#000050]"Launching areas",[/#000050][#000050] [/#000050][#000050]there are launch areas at cisco beach, first and second points and of course the Utah state parks marina. Your best bet would be the state parks marina IMO, then[/#000050][#000050] go across the lake to the East side or South to the Rock plie. I think if no one else wants to chime in here the rest [/#000050][#000050]is going to be trial and error[angelic]. Good luck and let us know how you do.[/#000050]

If you're going to troll, try a perch rapala diver. They work pretty well. I knew an old boy that swore by the red and black perch pattern flatfish. I also know some guys that swear by rapalas painted white so you can see a lot of things can work.

I'd follow wperhunter2's advice and launch in Garden City at the state park marina. A very nice launch that is sheltered from the main lake. It's not a major run anywhere on the lake from the state park marina with a decent boat.

On a good day, launching anywhere on the lake is easy but if the wind kicks up, it can be a major hassle putting your boat back on the trailer on the east side ramps. With big waves that develop as the wind blows across the lake from the SW to the east side, even dropping people off on the metal docks at the ramps to get the trailer can be treacherous. I've seen more than one person mess up trying to get out of the boat on to those docks in the waves and wind.

[#000050]Thanks guys for the advice. I've got slip at the State Park Marina and will use all of your advice and let you all know how it goes.[/#000050]

[#000050]OK, so I am hearing Rapalas and Kwik Fish, but no advice on size. Do you use the same K15's and large Rapalas like at the Gorge or do you downsize some?[/#000050]

Down size from what you use at the Gorge. U20, anything close will work. You know the drill, you'll have to experiment.
