Just wanted to tell everyone thankyou that has posted info on Salmon fishing. Because of everybody on BFT and tons of awesome people on the river I was able to land my first Chinook this week! My friends and I were in Ellis from Sunday evening until Wednsday. We are all rookies and really had no clue about Chinook. We have caught steelhead and thought we were prepared, but we thought wrong. My one friend (Sloppy Joe) could only stay til Monday and he never hooked into anything. My other buddy and I each hooked five and my buddy landed three and I only landed one. I had three fish brake me off. One on 20 # leader and two on 30#.
We hooked most of them on tuna balls with chartreuse yarn. I think we only hooked one or two on roe. The bite was hot from about first light to about nine or ten O'clock a.m. The only pics I have is on my cell and I don't know how to down load them. If any could tell me how please let me know. Hopefully if anybody is out there this weekend you will get into them.
I have heard horror stories about combat fishing so I was expecting the worst. But to my surprise everyone we fished around were awesome! I got lots of advice and encouragement. Only really had one guy in a boat get impatient with us because we got tied up with him. But other than that it was great. So once again, thanks everyone and hopefully I can repay someone out there for all your help someday!
