Scott Hoschouer of Burlington, CO set the new catch and release record for flathead catfish by catching a gorgeous 36" fish from Bonny Reservoir in June of this year. It reportedly weighed 24 lbs and would have shattered the current 9 lb 5 oz. weight record for kept fish.
Flatheads have only been stocked in Colorado for a few years, so this record will likely be broken again. Let's hope the next lucky angler has the foresight to release his big fish, too.
