Pete called yesterday and we decided to chase some bass this morning. Put in at CFP about 6:00 hoping to beat the heat. We started dropshoting on a river hump with nothing doing. Tried another river edge creek channel and picked up one nice bass on dropshot with gulp minnow in about 25' of water.

Still early so headed to a flat with a drop to 25' and finally got into some fish. We dropshotted em, we jigging spooned em and we sammied em on top. Had alot of fun getting some topwater action on Sammy's and deeper action with jigging spoons. I think we landed 13 LM and spots and probably quick released or just plain lost another 5 or 6. The big one of the day got away at the boat when I was too slow with the net and he had one last jump left. Had several yellow bass there too. Fish there finally quit and we moved on to try and find some whites.

Marked a serious concentration of fish in about 20-25' of water on a channel edge. Dropped the jigging spoons and caught a ton of yellow bass and 2 nice white bass. The bite pretty much slowed to nothing by 10:30. We tried a couple more places near the nuke with no success. Marked a lot of fish but no action.

Had a good morning fishing with Nauticman and scouting out some new places for bass. Lots of fun and we will do it again soon.

Regards, Labman
