Got out this morning in the tube for the second straight Friday. Water is definitely down from just a week ago. Found a spot in the narrows north side that gave up a nice 11in perch early. I told myself that is ALL I wanted to try to catch today. Well after looking all over the narrows for a few hours, I couldn't find any more. Ended up trying for some smallmouth and found plenty all over the place. A ton of 6-10 inchers that were all released and took home 3 11 inch smallies. Also caught about 10 crappies, but they were all around 5 inches. Fun day but still can't find the perch. May have to find somewhere other than the narrows. Just unfamiliar with the lake so not sure where to head.

[blush] The narrows aint the place right now for a perch search ... Plenty of dink smallys and crappies to be had in that area .. If your lookin for the bigger perch you need to seek out the inlet areas ..North -- East -- Swim beach area or the South fork find 20' o water an you will find them bigger perch ..There not half as deep as you may think they are and there in areas youd least suspect .. Standard 1in crappie tubes tipped wit perch er worm will put =em in da cooler [Wink][Wink] The panfish will not be down in the narrows in serious #s till it starts coolin way down !!!Fish on ,,FISHAMANIAC......

I was at pineveiw in the tube this morning as well, launched near the sportsmans access with the restrooms
on the north side at about 7 am managed one decent perch a few dinks and one fat carp, fished a little east of that at the weed bed yesterday managed a couple decent perch a few crappie that were kinda small ( they surprised me as two hit a rattling rap and one hit a worm). been out trying to get some bass but cant seem to find them. What were you using?
I am planning to go tomorrow again, plan to be there and on the water at about 6 am to try again.

I was up there Thursday morning looking for muskies. I should have slept in! I fished my butt off for four hours and couldn't even generate a follow. I've heard of a few being caught up there, but not many. So far this year the muskie fishing has been brutal there :0( Fred K.

Not sure where sportsman access is. Have to check the map I guess.

As for bass, I was using craw colored tube jigs. I have a two pole permit so I let one drag as I am moving and cast the other to shore. Got most near rocky areas, but also a few in more of a sandy bottom spot. I imagine you could also get them using a drop shot rig, but I had plenty of success on tube jigs so just stuck with them. Colors were from dark orange, to a lighter transparent orange, to a more clear color with orange fleck.

Plan to try again Sunday... have a lure making clinic with TD tomorrow morning. Let me know how it goes. I would really like to get into some perch.

That is a fish I have always wanted to target, but with this being a holiday, I didn't even want to put my 14' boat out there and content with that zoo. Maybe later this summer. Any clue how long they are active? All the way into fall I suppose?

Thanks for the heads up on that. Haven't been around the lake so are there places to put in a tube? Are those places you mentioned relatively easy to find? I would like to avoid the fee if possible. I would like to get some perch. Planning weekend trip to starvation this next weekend, but if I can figure out how to catch them closer, I would be a happy man. Thanks again. It is great to get the help.

just look for the pull offs and the white fences, or you could go to the old highway on the north end, they are all relatively easy to launch a tube from, the farthest one north east is a little weedy. I plan to go early and leave by 10ish hopefully beating the mass groups of people, if you go near the inlet at the NE end or in the swimming areas it isn't too bad when there are alot of people there as it is a wakeless zone in the swimming area.
