[fishin] well...took the boat and a couple of buddies up to echo early this morning. got to the lake just after 6 am, to a nice 50 degree chill! water temp at launch was a nice 69 degrees. we went fishing for bass but ended up slaying the trout! we fished for probly 5 hrs for bass and landed 6, with 3 being dinks under 6 " but a couple nice ones as well! after we tried everything to pick up some decent sized bass we decided to try for the old rainbows! we headed out a little deeper, marking fish anywhere from 10' of water out to 50' of water and caught trout in all depths! all trout were caught on power bait! caught 10 in total. bass were caught on rapalas and plastics! what a wonderful fishing trip! now for the bad news......... i had a wonderful shimano rod and reel that ive had forever, well... we were drifting all three of us using powerbait, when i switched to another color of powerbait, threw it out and let it sink down, set the bail... turned to grab my drink..... looked back and my pole was gone... it happened so fast my buddy(that was right next to my pole, watching his) didnt even see it! so..... if anyone fishing echo catches a fish or sees a fish swimming(or not) lol, and theres a shimano, spinning rod attatched, id really like it back!... lol. anyways wonderful day of fishing! going back sunday, maybe ill get lucky and find my pole???[Wink]

Bummer about the rod. Makes for an otherwise good day a little unsettling. Nice fish though.

[fishin] they are charging way too much i can tell u that.. 15$ day use. we got there early so there was noone there and no paystation, so we were just going to pay when we pulled out, but the guy at the gate was too busy hitting on the pretty girls coming in that he didnt even notice we hadnt paid. so we boated for free.

[fishin] anybody have any tips for catching bigger bass at echo, rockport, or deer creek? i seem to catch alot of bass but small ones. i havent perfected the drop shot technique, my biggest fish have been on poppers and curly tails.... any info will be greatly appreciated[sly]

I have been trying to figure out the bass at DC out as well. Tried a lot of techniques with different plastics: drop shot, texas rig, senkos, DT rapalas, etc. I have been fishing from shore but I have been riding my bike on the train tracks to get to the North side. I have also tried wadding out on the East side a lot. Just not a whole lot of success. Frankly, I am starting to get a little ticked off! If you find any info, pass it on.

Thanks,
Jordan

Hey guys,

Went out to Echo for the first time on Saturday for a couple of hours on my toon. I got into some bass, most around twelve but I did pick up a 14" and a 16". Not huge, but still fun, I was fishing with a 3" Gulp minnow on a jig head, and a Maniac Cutter Bug on a jig head. They seemed to like a slow retrieval the best.
