Well, I was excited to hit the Berry today in my boat but it seemed everyone was commited to something else for the day and I don't like to take the boat out alone its such a pain to load. So I made a trip up to Cabela's this morning to re-stock. Well I made the mistake of venturing over to the tube section and a new Fat Cat tube mysteriously ended up in my cart, new waders and fins also jumped in. Before I new it I was on my way home with a new tube rig. I jumped on the site here and pulled up some of your ideas in PIMPING tubes, and spent the next 4 hrs getting the thing worthy for a real fishing trip! She looks real good, and ready for a maiden voyage. So now when everyone else is doggin me, I am going anyways!!! Hey there is time to make it to the Berry afterall. I hope she floats!!!

Congrats!!! I do have to say that's a big reason why I comitted to the ways of the tube. Far too many times have I planned a trip with some amigos and next thing I know, I'm the only committed one. Easy to just pack up and go.... Got any pics of the set-up?

I hit the Berry about 5:30 and was on the water by 6:00, the Maiden Voyage went well and was very very relaxing and enjoyable, I had an old school tube some 15 years ago with the neoprene waders that would make you sweat so bad it would have been better to go without, the old tube made you sit so low in the water it was difficult to enjoy the fishing. All I can say about the new Tube was WOW! so enjoyable, I took Tubedudes design and built the pole racks, and utility rack with the pole holders out front. One pole I let out a green wholley bugger and the other as for finess jigging, I scooted around the bay for awhile untill I figured things out, ended up with 3 nice cuts, not a bad first trip and a great learning experience, i can see why you all are hooked on tubing, It is so peaceful and personal, you are in total control, I am an Ice fishing nut and I love finess jigging, this made it as close to that as it is on ice. So from now on, I'm not sure if I will be inviting many to go fishing, i might just sneak up on my own and enjoy the peace and quite of fishing in a tube. Sorry no pictures yet, I had to get this trip behind me and now I will work on pictures.

[cool]Yes you have been bitten by the tubing bug.[cool] Glad you are enjoying it. I have a tube in Grand Junction CO that I keep there for use when I go there (I am there weekly). So I have a toon here in UT and a Uboat there. Driving me nuts down there for it is too hot right now to enjoy using it.[:/] Next week I hit the north slope of the Uintas for a couple of days if tubin.[

[cool][#0000ff]Sounds like you have discovered much about the greatest appeals of float tubing.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One of the claims I have always made about tubing is that it will make you a better overall fisherman...in the same way that archery hunting makes one a better overall hunter. The individuality, the hand to fin combat, the up close and personal aspects...all combine to create a very satisfying experience. [/#0000ff]
