Well...got my boat back from some warranty work on the gel coat and charged up the batteries. Decided that Jason and i would hit some spots he really hasn't got to fish much this year so we loaded up and hit Holly Circle around 4:30.
Since the engine got a new power head back in Oct-Nov? I noticed the 1: the hot foot needed oil and 2: the boat seemed to idol a touch high. But then i was shut down due to the surgery and the boat hadn't been used for at least 5 months or better. I had to re oil the hot foot and thought everything was fine. Started it up for the first time last night and it idled VERY high. Fooled with the hot foot only to find that under the cowl, the linkage was not tied in correctly. (ooops from dealer) I do believe that this is the time my phone went in 20 feet of water. ... I fixed the problem and we hit the water..
Ran up to our first spot and started catching decent keepers right off the bat. Spoons and crank baits worked best in 16 feet of water with a nearby flat. Jason managed one maybe near 4 there. The crankbait had to me moving pretty good too. Spoons work only if you could get them under all the white bass. Those things will hit anything!
Sat down to go to our 2nd spot and the boat started just fine...but when I gave it gas..it sputtered out and died. Took forever to restart and died again. Kept doing this for about 5 minutes or so and then it finally hit and ran. So...we get to our next spot and by this time, I'm hurting pretty good in the heat. Neck seems fine, its the muscles that are killing me! Jason gets his 5 plus and we pull off a few more bass and call it quits.
Boat starts fine yet sputters for a second when taking off. Bad fuel maybe? Fuel pump? Fuel bulb bad? Who knows..I'll start with the cheapest.
We went back to where we started and managed a few more fish and thought I could last it out for the evening "fish in the jumps" Never made it. I hurt way too bad and asked Jason if we could end this trip early. Hated to do it but being down for 5 months has really took a toll on me. No lifting, no real work...etc...Sucks!
Anyways...I still had a great time and netted a few of Jason's MONSTER Bass. Smile Wife loved the fact that I had to put in a insurance claim on my new Blackberry but hey...It Happens. Sad
Thanks for going Jason and we'll go again soon! You have a "gas credit" LOL.
