I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on fishing Greys river. I want to go up tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has had a chance to fish it lately. Any advice would be great. Thanks...

I know it won't look like it when you get there but the fishing is often better on the Little Greys. It takes off on the left had side as you go up stream. All the usual are good. I would stay to dries 12 to 18, hoppers 8-12, nymphs 12-16. Lots of great holes, runs and riffles. Great PMD hatch right now 14-16

I'd try 30 - 40 miles up from Alpine now that the water is finally coming down. The number of hoppers up there is unreal this year.

+1 on the LG. There are some beaver ponds a few miles down near a forest station. Pretty, willing, fine spots there! PMX with PT dropper worked well for us.

I ended up fishing The Greys this weekend too. I'd never fished it, but it sounded like my kind of place. I ended up just getting stuck at the little picnic site at the beginning of the canyon as my wife and mother in law wanted to shop in Jackson, so they dropped me off there so they could find me easily. Had a pretty good day. Fished from about 10:30-2:30 and scored 50 cutts. Most were little guys in the 6-10" range, but I caught several around 12-14", and a few bigger fish as well. I did best with a size 12 Turks for an indicator and caught them on flashback hare's ears, caddis emergers, and a Copper John in green/black, sizes 14 and 16. I also caught that second large cutthroat on a size 12 Mohawk, but everything else would refuse it, so I went to a stimulator which also caught some fish. The best fly was a Copper John/Pheasant Tail hybrid sort of thing with natural pheasant tail fibers for the tail and wing case, brown wire for the abdomen, and peacock sparkle dubbing for the thorax and a strip of olive flashabou over the top of the wing case. I only had one of these, and it eventually got chewed up. I'll be tying more to try on The Logan though. The water is clear and not too high, but I didn't dare cross it, it was too swift and those rocks are pretty slippery. Hopefully I'll make it up for a more serious trip someday, I really want to explore that canyon, and the Little Greys sounds very nice.

It was pretty fun, I guess I shouldn't feel bad about being dropped off at the canyon mouth after all It looks like you caught some of those pretty cutts though, and that fish is bigger than most of the fish I caught. I did a lot of fingerling launching, I should have brought a lighter rod [sly]
