I was skimming through the fish stocking reports on the DWR website, and I noticed something. The only fish they report stocking are trout and catfish. Does anyone know why they don't post any info about the other species that are stocked around the state (wipers, tiger muskies, bass, etc)? I went back through several years worth of reports, and I couldn't find a single species other than trout and catfish. Is this info posted elsewhere?

You need to look again. The other species are listed there along with the many trout.

One reason you might not be seeing bass could be because no bass have been stocked in the lake you are looking at.

But, the stocking report is showing bass (Leigh Hill pond, Enterprise Reservoir).

The great thing with bass is that once they are established, they typically don't need to stock them.

The wiper are in there and there are a few small mouth listed in this years stocking report but I've never been able to find information about anything other than trout catfish and wiper in previous years. Never anything on the Tiger Muskies.

At least that's the information here: http://wildlife.utah.gov/dwr/fishing/sto...?year=2009

I don't believe they have been able to plant any tiger muskies for a few years (look back in prior years and you will find them) because they haven't been able to locate a disease-free source.

What about the 10,000 they put in Pineview last year? They're not listed.

They are listed in 2005 though, the last time they were planted before last year.

I was told the DWR is breeding them here now. Is this true?

there getting ready to, or maybe have started. i know tomarrow there going to yuba to try and net some pike for the program. fisherman have been encouraged to donate there catch to them tomarrow. was going to go but not in the cards [frown]

Oh yeah, I was looking at page six where I see they planted some walleye back in Yu....... Oh nevermind, I just woke up![frown] Maybe we can talk em into planting more fish for the economic stimulus, ya know, more fishermen spending more money keeping bait and tackle guys in business, more parks fees to go into the general fund. Contact your representative! We need stimulus!

On June 16, a total of 1,000 true muskies from Nebraska were stocked into ponds at the Lee Kay Public Shooting Range in Salt Lake City.
They're small now, but in three years, they'll be mature enough to reproduce.
When the muskies reach that stage, biologists with the Division of Wildlife Resources will take milt from the males. Then they'll use that milt to fertilize eggs from Northern pike.
After the eggs are fertilized, Utah will have the first batch of tiger muskies ever produced in the state.

Last year I read that they planted wipers in the reservoir at Huntington state park. One more place to go to get em!

That would be June 16, 2009.

You need to look at the date of the article you posted. The article was from January 26, 2010, which means that it was June 16, 2009.

I only bring this up because that means that 1 year is down, ONLY 2 years to go till the Tigers get "made"!!
